BOBCATSSS 2017

Submitted by Susan Archambault on March 10, 2017 - 11:08pm

In late January, I presented a paper about CORA at the BOBCATSSS Conference. BOBCATSSS is an annual library and information science symposium. It is held under the auspices of EUCLID (European Association for Library and Information Education and Research) and is organized by students from at least two universities. BOBCATSSS brings together professionals and students in the library and information science field and gives them an opportunity to meet each other, share their knowledge and discuss the future of LIS.

This year’s symposium was held in chilly Tampere, Finland. It was organized by students from University of Tampere (Finland), Oslo and Akershus University College (Norway), and Hanze University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands). One of the key themes of the conference was technology and health, including personal health apps, VR for medical training, and chatbots. Other themes included bibliotherapy, privacy and security, verifying news information, data management, and gaming in education. Check out some of the BOBCATSSS conference presentation slides! The organizing students did a great job planning the conference. Some of the scheduled activities for participants included a sauna and ice- swimming trip, an evening party at Klubi (club), an excursion to Metso Library, and laser games.
